An Unforgettable Scent.
I'm going to review one of my seasoned and time tested favorite flavors today.
This flavor has an exquisite flavor profile and an even more unforgettable aroma as you brew it in the coffee maker.
In fact, I would say this coffee is even better for just brewing and experiencing the amazing aroma if by chance you don't even get to taste it.
I'm talking about another tried and true and historic coffee flavor, Hazelnut. In particular today and since they're my favorite coffee corp, Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut Coffee.
Dunkin as you probably already know produces this coffee in a variety of options within their broad Dunkin Donuts Varieties to include: Dunking Donuts Hazelnut Ground Coffee, Dunking Donuts Coffee K Cups, and Dunkin Donuts Coffee Pods.
Blah Blah Blah, Tell Us the Flavor!
Right, so let's get to it then. It's time for another friggencawfee.com product review: Dunking Donuts Hazelnut Coffee.
Just so we have a full understanding of what we're talking about today, this review will be based solely off brewing Dunkins Hazelnut Ground Coffee in a regular percolator.
We'll be providing pairings that work well in related to foods, creamers and sweeteners as well as describing the flavors brought out when it's consumed both black or with additions mixed in.
Hopefully by the end of this article your mouth will be watering and you'll order some from the store and when it arrives you'll be saying Dunkin Donuts Dunkin Donuts! as you run out to grab your awesome smelling mail gift.
Now without further adieu let's get to it!
So Tell Me, What's it Smell Like?
The first whammy you'll be hit by in the aroma is the amazing, nutty, earthy, but chocolatey rich scent of the hazelnut.
When brewed in coffee, hazelnut flavor has a warm, very rich buttery smell that also reminds you of caramel and dark chocolate natural brown sugar.
That's very specific for a reason because hazelnut coffee does not give off a strong scent of any other kind of sugar but thick and heart natural brown sugar. That also means it pairs well when mixed with brown sugar, but we'll look more into that in a bit.
Now mix in the awesome scent of a coffee roast with what you'd expect from the beans (rich and hearty bean aroma) and you have an unforgettable scent lifting you up and floating you over to it.
Hazelnut coffee aroma also tends to travel farther and hang around longer than most other coffees I've brewed and even if you don't like to drink coffee everyone always seems to enjoy how wonderful it smells.
So could you brew a pot just to liven up your home scent before guests arrive? Absolutely, but be prepared to serve that coffee as well because any coffee lover who catches that scent will almost always find it irresistible.
So Tell Me Also, What's it Taste Like?
So glad you asked!
With your taste buds already teased and primed from smelling the alluring beverage you will be greeted by similar flavors upon your first sip sir and madam.
One friend of mine described Dunkin Donuts Hazelnut coffee to have a rich, velvety earth flavor with smooth edges and wings that take your taste buds into the sky.
I find that's a very accurate, if maybe a little theatrical statement.... which just makes me love it all the more.
I personally agree with the velvet, the smoothness, but to add to it I also find hazelnut to have an unforgettably buttery scent and flavor along with a very creamy, warm hug bean loving embrace.
It hits you richly and it hits you in your core when you take a sip and it's one of the most dug in foundational flavors in coffee.
It also has a sweet but soft tone mixed in and that provides a wide list of great options to pair it with....
Speaking of pairings!
Sir, Tell Me, What Should I Lay Beside it to Consume it Most Joyously?
Excellent question once more sir or madam, and how right you are to ask such an astutely observed and educated response to the scent and flavors.
Ahem.
As you who are clearly most highly informed and educated might expect the most wisely paired flavors that will add to your hazelnut coffee experience will include the following:
Almost Anything Sweet... but... In particular anything made with rich brown sugar. As I mentioned already Hazelnut tends to have a natural flavor profile that includes a wisp of brown sugar in it. Thus drinking it with anything else made form brown sugar enhances that flavor even more.
Whilst it still adds to it to enjoy a sugar cookie or something else made with white sugar or other sweeteners, in my opinion your best sweet experience will come from the brown sugar family.
Just About Anything Nuts. Because you have both bean and nut coming together to create something incredible almost all other nuts also pair very well with Hazelnut coffee.
One of the best nut combination I have found is to have chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies made with brown sugar with it.
Now... that's a treat.
It's honestly like a match made in heaven, even though it was actually cooked in yours or someone else's kitchen...
Peanuts and cashews also work great with it.
Explain The Cream! Ok so because of rich it already is the best creams and sugars to put in it also do well when they come from richness.
We'll go ahead and get the obvious out of the way here, but put brown sugar in it for best sweetener results.
For your cream it works best with other heavier, rich creams like heavy cream or a heavy and rich creamer.
While you may find it surprising to read this I would not advise adding Hazelnut creamer to it, as the chemically created Hazelnut flavor will likely overpower what's already naturally there and ruin your experience.
It's best to either add in an unflavored heavy cream or something like French vanilla to apply an additional draw to the creamier smooth flavors in the Hazelnut.
Also you really should try a piece of Tiramisu with it. Absolutely my Mother's favorite way to have either.
Closing It Up.
Hazelnut coffee has a lot to offer and will be around for hundreds of years to come until we fly to some unknown alien planet that has an even more delicious creamy, velvety nut that we can replace Hazelnut coffee with, BUT until then It's another one of my flavors that always has a place in my coffee cabinet.
