Weekly Schmeekly.
Ok so I know I said I was only going to try and focus right now on doing one weekly review, but I'm feeling review, so judge me if you must.
I am so passionate about coffee that I just have to share my love of my favorite coffee flavors and brands with you or I will explode in a shower of coffee beans.
So, without any more delay it's time to talk about my second favorite flavor of flavored coffee, Dunkin Donuts Caramel Me Crazy!
Oh, The Caramel.
If you've read many of my other articles, or my review on Dunkin Donuts Turtle Love then you know that I LOVE that taste of caramel.
Whether it's in candy form or in a cup of coffee, caramel is one of my all-time favorites, and I personally think it's one of the most wonderful things in the world for our taste buds.
My wife on the other hand hates it, which is fine by me because that means there's no competition for me. :)
I will put caramel in almost anything, from fries to coffee to candy to cake to waffles. Give it to me, now.
The Caramel DOES Drive Me Crazy.
Almost every single time I look at my coffee counter (Yes, I have a full counter space dedicated to just my coffee) I see Dunkin Donuts Turtle Love and Caramel Me Crazy right next to each other.
To me they are two staples of my coffee drinking beneficial habit, and I think I would become quite sad if I didn't have them on hand.
Much in the same way Turtle Love fills my lungs with the most alluring scents and aromas Caramel Me Crazy does the same. I find this coffee to have a much sweeter accent, and whenever I'm sweetening up my coffee I don't need as much to bring it to the balance I appreciate the most.
Though I still use very little sugar or honey as it is, and I only like a little cream for color and smoothness. (Unless it's holiday time and I want some CANDY COFFEE. Oh yea.)
As a professional coffee connoisseur actually trying to give you an accurate description, I would describe Caramel Me Crazy as a desert coffee, with a strong buttery caramel flavor that is VERY creamy and smooth. It will tease you with a bit of vanilla and just a tiny touch of cinnamon as well.
I find that it pairs well with many deserts or breakfast treats like pancakes, bacon, waffles, or jelly toast.
Donuts go amazing with it too and Caramel Me Crazy is great for dipping donuts in.
And with my personal opinion and experience out of the way, let's be objective.
The Pros: Dunkin Donuts Caramel Me Crazy Coffee.
- Reasonably priced for a specialty coffee.
- Delicious, with a strong flavor profile that offers a unique and unforgettable flavor.
- Can be tried at most Dunkin Donut Coffee Shops so you know how it tastes before you buy a bag.
- Product of a trusted coffee brand.
- Comes in ground coffee and K-cup variants.
- Rich, rewarding aroma during the brewing process.
The Cons: Caramel Me Crazy.
- Can be expensive if not consumed in moderation.
- May not be available in stores if Dunkin Donuts is not in your area.
- While it is very delicious, it is not as unique as some other coffee flavors, and other brands of coffee such as Starbucks offer an incredible caramel flavor as well with a similar flavor profile.
- Hard to find in larger volumes.
When it comes to brewing coffee at home at home I prefer Dunkin's Caramel flavored coffee over Starbucks Caramel, but if I'm going out to a coffee shop I'm drawn every time to Starbucks if someone else is making a caramel flavored coffee for me.
It just depends on the situation for this flavor, and it's not as easy of a decision to crown it the Caramel King as it was to give my review crown to Turtle Love for the dark chocolate flavor.
Starbucks Caramel and Dunkins Caramel are both very similar in their cost on Amazon, (Starbucks runs at $8.98 for an 11 Oz bag and Dunkin runs at $8.72 for an 11 Oz bag.)
Starbucks does have a salted caramel flavor though, and I am a huge sucker for salted caramel, but I can't get into that today because it wouldn't be fair and at some point, I need to stop typing and I can't be sure of when that will be if I start talking about salted caramel...
So, with everything said, I still have to give Caramel Me Crazy my number one spot for caramel coffee brewed from home... for now. It may be up in the air soon, or it may hold its grounds.
